- When students become more practiced, choose a new text, or new information, and have them apply the same graphic organizer. Create guiding questions with the students; then pair them to complete the process.
- Give students many opportunities to practice using the graphic organizer in pairs, moving toward independent use.
- As students add to their repertoire of graphic organizer, be sure to provide lots of blank copies that are readily accessible. Many teachers keep an open file in the room containing labeled folders for graphic organizers.
